File a Notice of Effective Date

Agencies are required to file notices of effective date with the Office of Administrative Rules through the eRules platform.

1. Visit eRules and select the Rule Filings tab.

2. Using filters or by looking through the list, find the rule you're wanting to make effective.

3. On the right of the desired rule's row, select File Effective Date. If this icon does not appear, the filing is not yet able to be made effective.

4. Enter the desired date and select File Effective Date.

Note: effective dates may not be before the current day or more than 120 days after the filing's publication in the Utah State Bulletin.

5. Selecting this submits the notice of effective date, at which point the Office of Administrative Rules will publish the final rule on the public-facing website.

To verify that the notice of effective date has been sent, check that the filing's status reads Codify. eRules will also send an email upon submission of the notice of effective date.
