This rule is authorized by Section 53-6-105 which allows the director to make rules necessary to administer the issuance of appropriate certificates to peace officers completing basic training programs and other advanced officer training programs.

A continuation of this rule is necessary because it describes the programs and requirements associated with the Utah Peace Officer Standards and Training basic training course, advanced officer certification, first-line supervisor course, mid-management certification, and executive development institute.
