NOTICE OF REVIEW AND STATEMENT OF CONTINUATION

Concise explanation of the particular statutory provisions under which the rule is enacted and how these provisions authorize or require the rule:

Section 53B-6-105 requires an administrative rule under Section 53B-6-105.7 to provide policy for an engineering and computer science scholarship program within the state system of higher education. This program is intended to encourage studies in related fields which lead to employment within the State of Utah for scholarship recipients.

Summary of written comments received during and since the last five-year review of the rule from interested persons supporting or opposing the rule:

No comments have been received on this rule during and since the last five-year review.

Reasoned justification for continuation of the rule, including reasons why the agency disagrees with comments in opposition to the rule, if any:

Continuation of this rule is necessary since the State Legislature continues to fund a very small amount for this program each year. Students who receive funding from this scholarship are able to complete their educational pursuits in the engineering and computer science fields.
