RULE ANALYSIS

Purpose of the rule or reason for the change:

The purpose of this amendment is to allow the Division flexibility in obtaining accreditation for elevator inspectors.

Summary of the rule or change:

This change removes the reference to ASME QEI -1 from Inspector Qualification allowing the Division flexibility in obtaining accreditation for elevator inspectors.

the state budget:

There is no cost to the state budget associated with this change, as this change will allow the Division more flexibility in obtaining accreditation for elevator inspectors.

There is no cost to any local government associated with this change as local governments do not have elevator inspectors.

There is no cost to small businesses associated with this change as small businesses do not have elevator inspectors.

persons other than small businesses, businesses, or local governmental entities:

There is no cost associated with this change as only the state has elevator inspectors.

Compliance costs for affected persons:

There is no cost associated with this change, as this change will allow the Division more flexibility in obtaining accreditation for elevator inspectors.

R616-3-4. Inspector Qualification.

A. Any person who performs elevator safety inspections must have a current certification as a Qualified Elevator Inspector [as outlined in ASME QEI-1, Qualifications for Elevator Inspectors]from a nationally accredited organization.
