This rule is authorized by Section 4-9-118 which allows the Department of Agriculture and Food (Department) to establish rules and fees for the registration of weights and measures to ensure the correct weights and measures are used to protect the consumer.

The Department has not received comments on this rule in the last five years.

Reasoned justification for continuation of the rule, including reasons why the agency disagrees with comments in opposition to the rule, if any:

This rule is necessary to ensure the inspection and certification of measuring devices used for commerce in the state. This ensures that the consumer is paying the correct price for their products. Therefore, this rule should be continued.
